Saponaria Officinalis, most commonly known as Soapwort, is a perennial plant that grows in Europe and Asia. Its roots contain Saponin, a natural cleaning agent with great detergent and degreasing power.
If you boil the roots in water, you can obtain the liquid Saponin extract and create a natural multipurpose liquid detergent that does not pollute the environment. It can be as effective as common detergents, but without all the chemicals.
You can use it to clean your house, wash your clothes, but also to make a shampoo and a liquid hand soap.
It’s 100% natural, ecological and biodegradable.
It is organic and hypoallergenic.
It’s vegan and cruelty-free.

Place 100gr of roots in 1lt of water, blend the mixture with a blender or a liquidiser if you get bigger roots, boil for about 15 minutes and let it rest for at least 2 hours. Then filter the liquid and what you get is the Saponaria extract.
It can be used pure or you can add other natural ingredients, such as Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid and Essential Oils of your choice for a nice smell and extra cleaning properties.
The same roots can be boiled for a second time in half a litre of water for extracting all the saponin available.
